  • The Gateway School is a special needs secondary school, catering for young people with an Educational Healthcare Plan (EHCP) whose primary need is linked to Social, Emotional and/or Mental Health (SEMH).

    Our students deal with issues which directly affect their ability to deal with social and emotional issues effectively and/or to positively balance their mental health. We are committed to helping them to prepare for adulthood and life outside of school.

    Headteacher's Welcome

    We are extremely proud of our school, not only because we have impressive physical resources and amenities at our disposal, but also because we have dedicated, highly skilled staff who give everything for their pupils every day. Most of all, we are proud of our pupils who, despite some significant challenges in their lives, work hard to achieve and realise their potential and to envisage their future.

    As Headteacher of our amazing school, I want to assure you that I will do everything in my power to ensure that your child is given the opportunity to achieve outcomes and destinations which will help to maximise their potential. I will ensure that they develop skills in progressing in our six core values and give them multiple opportunities to;

    • Develop skills for being more independent
    • Push beyond their borders
    • Reflect more effectively
    • Develop more balanced responses
    • Communicate more effectively
    • Be more resilient
